Box Office Area Manager

MANAGEMENT

The Box Office is the guests' first interaction with a representative of the Irish Fair, and it needs to be the best first impression possible. There are two gates to the Irish Fair and both gates need to be well-run, welcoming, and friendly.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with the Event Manager and Volunteer Support Committee to plan the area layout for both the main gate and east gate.

  • Assign volunteers to their positions (selling tickets or scanning tickets) and ensure they are trained on the point-of-sale and/or scanning equipment.

  • Manage volunteer shift changes and breaks.

  • Coordinate with Treasury team to collect/deliver cash from the cash drawers.

  • Manage guest questions and complaints, and escalate as necessary.

  • Ensure every guest coming through the gate is treated with dignity and respect.

Time commitment before the fair: 4-6 hours for planning and logistics meetings.

Time commitment during the fair: This is negotiable. We need coverage the entire weekend of the fair and the Thursday Ceol on the River concert including 2 hours before open on Thursday to arrange the tent, gather supplies, etc. and 2 hours after close on Sunday to tear down the tent (stack tables and chairs).

Time commitment after the fair: 1-2 hours to capture notes about the event such as what went well/didn't go well, things to do differently next year, supplies that need to be restocked.
